Article | Liv Webinars to be Offered at No Charge to Attendees
Since September 2008, the Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) has regularly offered Liv Webinars online. Liv encompasses awareness, reflection and absorption and these webinars cover a wide range of topics relevant to the global Sikh community. Instructors bring experience and insight from various spheres, including academia, human rights, grass roots activism, and leadership & management. They are able to use the webinar platform to engage and inspire audiences from around the world. In nearly two years, SikhRI has delivered over forty full-length Liv sessions, which have been attended by over a thousand people from all major Sikh locales around the globe.
In light of this success, SikhRI is pleased to announce that all future webinars will be offered at no cost to all registrants. Archived sessions will also be accessible for no charge as well. Besides providing this service free to attendees, SikhRI has decided to present future sessions using the industry-leading Webinar software, GoToWebinar® by Citrix, which will increase functionality and enhance the user’s experience with innovative ease-of-use features.
Addressing these changes, Jagdeep Singh, lead coordinator for Liv said, “For the past two years, we’ve had a regular global audience for every webinar that has been presented – the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees appreciating the efforts that go into making these sessions available globally to anyone with a computer. We receive regular requests to cover topics and issues that are not being addressed anywhere else and we trust that these key changes, combined with the continued involvement of highly experienced and passionate speakers, will help in continuing to build on the successes of the past two years, and further increase our global exposure and engagement on issues of importance to the diaspora.”
Inderpreet Singh, member of SikhRI’s Board of Directors, as well as a facilitator for SikhRI events and programming, said of the new developments, “In the midst of our busy lives we seldom find time to listen, engage and reflect on topics that are of importance to the Sikh community and crucial for our own personal development viz-a-viz Sikhi. It is one of SikhRI’s objectives to provide both the venue and opportunity for this, as well as to ensure an unbiased and objective discussion on these subjects. The Liv series provides the venue which is relevant in this advanced technological age and, as any attendee would attest, we also continue to provide speakers and webinar facilitators who approach their respective subjects with passion for unbiased and objective dialogue.”
The next webinar will be presented by Dr. I.J. Singh on Saturday, 7 August 2010, at 11am CST. The topic will be Kirpan: Faith, Challenges & Solutions. For details and to register, please visit www.sikhri.org/events. |
