Gardiner Expressway closed this weekend for construction work
The City of Toronto is continuing to perform construction activities on the Gardiner Expressway. In order to perform this work safely, the Gardiner Expressway will be closed in both directions this weekend.
The specific closure is as follows: • The westbound lanes of the expressway, from Carlaw Avenue to the Humber River, will be closed from Saturday, August 7 at 12:01 a.m. to Monday, August 9 at 5 a.m. • The eastbound lanes of the expressway, from the Humber River to Spadina Avenue, will be closed from Saturday, August 7 at 12:01 a.m. to Monday, August 9 at 5 a.m.
The reason for the closure is that two bridges over the Gardiner Expressway will be demolished.
Motorists can use Lake Shore Boulevard and the Queensway as alternative routes during the closure. Whenever possible, people are encouraged to use public transit as a convenient alternative to driving.
