President of the SGPC Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar, in a letter to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, today asked him to request the Australian and the UK Governments to ban TV serials portraying Sikhism as a violent religion.

The SGPC President said, “The Jury, a serial to be telecast by Channel 7 in Australia from next month, denigrates Sikh values and has the potential of inciting hatred, bigotry, prejudice and religious intolerance against the Sikhs”. A similar serial, he stated, was telecast in the UK showing a 15-year-old Sikh boy murdering his schoolmate with a sword.
