Full closure of the parkway is required during that period in order to perform the work safely.
The Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both directions from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway from 2 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. on Monday.
Specific activities that will be undertaken during this closure include: • grinding, paving and line marking for the following sections of the DVP: southbound from St. Dennis Drive to Spanbridge Road and northbound from St. Dennis Drive to Wynford Drive • pavement evaluation • catch basin cleaning (required to ensure proper drainage) at about 500 locations • pavement markings for a total of approximately 30 kilometres of lanes • sign maintenance for 15 static signs • maintenance of closed-circuit television (CCTV) for 17 traffic cameras • inspection and repair of 10 overhead signs • repair of 10 RESCU vehicle detectors • guide rail repair at 10 locations • sweeping operations and litter removal within the entire closing zone of 15 kilometres.
Motorists can use Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Leslie Street as alternative routes during the closure. Whenever possible, the public is encouraged to consider using public transit as a convenient alternative.
