The Dufferin Street Bridge is south of Springhurst Avenue and goes over the GO Transit/Metrolinx Rail Corridor.
The purpose of the closure is to ensure public safety. The bridge was scheduled for replacement in 2016, but as a result of recent inspections, the City has made the decision to expedite the closure and replacement.
The reconstruction will include the installation of a temporary bridge in advance of the full reconstruction being completed. The temporary bridge will be open to vehicular traffic. More information about the opening of the temporary bridge will be available in late June.
Until the temporary bridge is completed, traffic management plans, including adjusted signal times, will be in place to help ease congestion.
