Spacing Magazine launches a new discussion series at Fort York on March 3

Spacing Speaks @ Fork York will launch on March 3 as a new quarterly discussion forum for residents to talk and learn about Toronto at the site of the city's birthplace - Fort York National Historic Site.

The first Spacing Speaks @ Fork York event will explore themes from Spacing magazine's Winter issue. Panellists include Toronto-based industrial architecture photographer Peter MacCallum, Toronto-based visual artist Cindy Blazevic and Toronto graphic designer Rick/Simon. The event will be moderated by Senior Editor Shawn Micallef.

Spacing Speaks @ Fork York (250 Fort York Blvd.) begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.

For more information about this event, visit http://spacing.ca or http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=183596238348372.

The Spacing Speaks @ Fort York and the ongoing Parler Fort discussion series at Fort York National Historic Site reinforce the central role Fort York continues to have in defining and reflecting Toronto's history.

These quarterly gatherings will be a fun way for people to explore and talk about the themes in each issue of Spacing Magazine in a setting that is partially a salon, partially a charrette, but mostly a place where ideas can be discussed and solutions proposed in a convivial, chatty atmosphere with refreshments.

These events will feature either Spacing writers or others involved in the latest magazine issue's theme. After a short discussion, a question will be proposed and those in attendance will break out into smaller groups, draft a quick proposal, and report back to the room. Conclusions and proposals will documented and posted on the blog at http://spacingtoronto.ca/ for further discussion.

Since launching in the fall of 2003, the award-winning Spacing Magazine has evolved from a publication discussing and exploring urban issues into a national online community with blogs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and the Atlantic region. More information is available at http://spacing.ca/about/.

Fort York National Historic Site is one of 10 historic museums operated by City of Toronto's Cultural Services. It is located at 250 Fort York Blvd. For more information, visit http://www.toronto.ca/fortyork.
