Nominations close on Friday, October 26 for Toronto Catholic District School Board by-election
The by-election for the office of Trustee, Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Ward 8 (City wards 41, 42 and 44) will be held on December 10. The last day to file or withdraw a nomination is Friday, October 26 at 2 p.m. at the City of Toronto Election Services Office, 89 Northline Rd.
To be eligible to run in the by-election, candidates must be: • a Canadian citizen; • at least 18 years of age; • a resident in the area of jurisdiction of the TCDSB; • a Roman Catholic; • a Catholic school supporter; • not legally prohibited from voting; and • not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
Candidates must provide the following information when filing their nomination: • a declaration of qualifications • acceptable identification showing name, qualifying address and signature within the jurisdiction of the TCDSB, and • $100 nomination filing fee (cash, certified cheque or money order made payable to “Treasurer, City of Toronto”).
Nomination forms and information for potential candidates are available at the Election Services Office, 89 Northline Rd., online at http://www.toronto.ca/elections, or by calling 416-338-1111.
The City will issue a news release announcing the final list of candidates after nominations have closed. The final list of candidates for the 2012 by-election will be posted on the City's election website at http://www.toronto.ca/elections.
