Toronto lights up the holiday season with Cavalcade of Lights

The 46th annual Cavalcade of Lights will kick off the holiday season at Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday, November 17 at 7 p.m.

Great Gulf joins the celebration as the new presenting sponsor of the event and of Toronto's magnificent official Christmas tree. The public is invited to attend this magical event in November to enjoy the lights, fireworks and musical performances headlined by Dragonette.

"I want to thank Great Gulf for supporting this annual holiday tradition," said Mayor Rob Ford. "I encourage everyone to come down to Nathan Phillips Square as we light the Christmas tree and enjoy great music and fireworks at this year's Cavalcade of Lights celebration."

“Events like Cavalcade of Lights strengthen our sense of community and help to make Toronto one of the great cities in the world in which to live,” said Jerry Patava, CEO of Great Gulf Group Inc. “Great Gulf is delighted to support a celebration that has been bringing families together since 1967 to mark the holiday season.”

The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with musical performances by pop/rock vocalist Suzie McNeil, R&B artist Sean Jones and rising star Alyssa Reid. The first lighting of the Cavalcade of Lights display will be followed by a breathtaking fireworks display at 8 p.m.

The celebration will continue from 8:15 to 10:30 p.m. with the "Sno Ball" sponsored by Timothy's World Coffee. It will feature a concert by international recording artists Dragonette, a fiery pyrotechnic performance by Circus Orange and an open-air DJ dance party with DJ Mel Boogie under the glow of thousands of twinkling lights.

Throughout the celebration, the public will be able to visit the 100th Grey Cup Festival tent to have photographs taken with the Grey Cup.
